While we are all safely locked down and as a break from our new (temporary) norm, we wanted to introduce ourselves. We are the Smiths- Jeremy and Tammy, and we took the reins at Longlands luxury glamping site from the Given’s back in late 2019. We can safely say our feet have not touched the ground – in a good way!
Having sold our previous family business; Dorset Coastal Cottages, we felt the time was right to pull our skills together as a family and find our forever home. When Longlands came on to the market last Summer, it seemed destiny had struck. We were literally blown away by this stunning location and breath-taking views of dramatic land and seascapes. Exmoor, the sandy beaches of Woolacombe and Croyde. And the sublime nature, which wraps around it.
We wanted to keep you up to date with our news and let you know that the lodges at Longlands are getting a sympathetic lift, with new luxury showers and some finer additions to the interiors to allow for extra comforts. When we get back to normal, we will also kick off with the re-launch of the Farm Shop at Longlands’ a handy stone-built store, which will house the very best of Devon county produce – you may also find resident art exhibitions from time to time so watch this space.
For those who are not quite ready to “Glamp”, but still want to experience the unique location that is “Longlands” – we will be opening the Longlands Cottage, which sleeps four with two bathrooms and a balcony offering stunning sea-views down the valley to where the sun sets and rises.
There are also plans to increase the biodiversity on the farm by developing wildflower meadows, orchards and increasing areas in the woodlands that are left to be wild and untouched. We also plan to build on the environmental credentials of the farm by increasing the solar generation to supply the lodges.
This year, we are very excited to introduce a new in-door out-door studio space to host the odd retreat or special project. As well as an idyllic lake-side meditation and yoga circle.
So, with the new era at Longlands, expect adventures, personally charged hospitality and a luxury experience to be remembered for a lifetime.
