Or, if you prefer something a little more decadent, treat yourselves to an evening out at the Coach House, by Michel Caines, just 2 miles away. It is officially the best restaurant in the whole of the SouthWest of England, having won Gold at the SouthWest Tourism Awards!
Hot Tub & Pampering
Enjoy a relaxing soak in our cedar wood hot tub. It has spectacular views out over the lake towards the sea & the setting sun. Our hot tub can fit up to 6 and has its very own changing room and outdoor hot shower. Read more about our Hot Tub. Another way to ensure complete relaxation is to arrange for a message or treatment with Longlands very own therapist, Louise. A Party to Remember
Here is how your party weekend at Longlands might look:
Arrive on Friday between 4pm & 7pm by car, bus or train to Barnstaple station (9 mile taxi journey). If you want to arrive in the area earlier, then Hunters Inn, in the beautiful Heddon Valley, just 5 miles away, is the perfect place for lunch, tea, walk, or drink.
Settle into your lodge and learn how to light the fires and what to find where. Sit back and put your feet up with a glass of fizz for your deck or the warm waters of our hot tub. Watch the sun setting on the sea whilst your supper heats up in the oven or on top of the wood burner.
Collect freshly baked pastries, butter and local jam from the Larder shop along with Longlands Granola and DIY breakfasts. DIY, because you cook the local sausages and bacon and Longlands’ eggs in the comfort of your lodge yourself!
Mid morning jump on the mini bus and get whisked away to a surfing lesson at Woolacombe, or a ride over Exmoor, or quad biking through a secret valley, or to the coast for a long walk. Finish the morning with a late lunch in a local pub, returning to Longlands for an afternoon of relaxing on the jetty, a row around the lake, or a wander through the woods.
Meet in the Barn for some pre dinner drinks, a table tennis tournament or Giant Jenga! Forfeits are optional! Sit down to a feast with friends: hog roast, lamb tagine, chilli, currys or a BBQ, with vegetarian & vegan options. Indulged in a Longlands’ Chocolate Torte and Baked Vanilla Cheesecake (both Gluten free!). Enjoy some music or even a DVD! Others have had a Talentless show, Karaoke, Scene It, This is Your Life….the possibilities are nearly endless!
Enjoy a late breakfast all together in the barn or in your lodge! Then either head out for more adventures or take the time to indulge in a good book or some serious Scrabble or Monopoly marathon!
Catch up with friends over supper in the lodge and head back home on Monday morning having unplugged, reconnected and now revived!
But don’t just take our word
Here is what another group had to say about their weekend:
“We were a group booking, 8 families in 5 lodges. We had the whole site to ourselves which meant we had sole use of the party barn too. This was perfect for us as we had a communal area for our group in the evenings. We managed to use the facilities in the party barn to feed all 28 of us on 2 nights…perfect!!
There is nothing Bella hasn’t thought of, and if you can think of anything she will go above and beyond to oblige. I was the organiser for our group so having such a huge amount of pressure to get things right was imperative, the reassurance I had from Bella was priceless. She was instant with responses to my emails regarding any concerns I may have had and also providing me with detailed itineraries for a group outing.
I booked a coach pickup from Longlands to The Hunters inn where we walked to Heddon’s mouth then trekked back to the inn where we all had a fantastic meal and a return coach back to Longlands. Much fun was had by all. This trip wouldn’t have been possible without Bella’s advice.
On the first night we ordered from Bella’s home cooked Larder menu, the food was delicious. When we visit again we will be ordering our food from Bella every night.
I am a hardened camper and I have to say I was extremely dubious about the temperature at night, as we were staying at the start of October half term. I needn’t have worried at all, the beds were so warm and cozy the cold was not an issue. Once the log burner got going in the morning the lodge was as warm as toast.
We all had an amazing time so much so we’ve booked a repeat experience next year.
The memories we’ve all made at Longlands will be treasured forever.”
