June: It’s been a Jewel of a Month!

Sunny days, cool clear nights, spectacular sunsets, star studded night skies, warm seas and quiet beaches:  June has been a brilliant month to escape to Longlands!

Longlands Land

Seas of billowing grasses with yellow buttercups and pink red campion.  Foxgloves festoon the banks and the hills.  The smell of elderflowers fills the air.  Hang in a hammock and enjoy the view!

Lake

Swallows chase peacock-blue dragon flies across the surface of the lake.  Rainbow trout create ripples as they grab unsuspecting water boatmen. Lie back on an adirondack and enjoy the show from the jetty!

Woods

Enjoy the cool, and shade of our ancient beech woods.  With all the lush ferns its little but like Jurassic park!  But fear not you’ll only come across deer, badgers, buzzards, foxes and owls in our woods.  Head to the Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur park for your Dino fix!

Exmoor Wildlife

Did you know….that the red deer is Britain’s largest land mammal?  …that the Exmoor pony is rarer than the giant panda?  …the wild goats of Lynton can defy gravity as they climb Valley of the Rocks? So many fascinating creatures to see and learn about!

Coast

Too calm to surf?  Try Stand Up Paddle Boarding, Kayaking or Coasteering!  See the coast from a totally different perspective. Explore coves and beaches that you can only reach from the sea.

Beaches

Walk the South West coast path and discover secret bays and forgotten beaches. We have sixteen beaches within easy reach of Longlands so you shouldn’t have any difficultly finding a quiet space.  Just don’t forget to pack a picnic, water, sunscreen and a hat!  Read more about our brilliant beaches.

Adventures

Take a trip to Lundy Island and see the puffins. June is a perfect time to enjoy their funny antics, and meet the next generation, before they head out to sea.

Explore Clovelly with its steep cobbled paths, discover Appledore’s narrow streets and quaint Elizabethan fishing cottages, ride the cliff railway between Lynton & Lynmouth.  Read more about our picturesque villages.
