Our first guests of Season Six arrived at Longlands this Friday. We had the wood burners glowing, the lamps lit and the champagne on ice! And despite the wet and windy weather, they had a wonderful time, cosy and snug in their lodge, so much so that they are booking to come back!
This year we have added even more things to ensure you stay warm, whatever Mother Nature is up to outside. Our King Bed now has its very own huge, thick fur blanket to add to the warmth of the 13.5 tog duvet and hot water bottles. We have totally enclosed the area between the shower and loo cabins to create more warmth. And we have added a drying rack to make good use of the warmth created by the hot water boiler. There are now draft excluders to ensure any cool breeze trying to sneak in is stopped in its tracks. And we will have your fire roaring for when you arrive, if the weather is less than lovely! Just remember to call us when you leave the M5!
Wonderful Whatever the weather
Whilst we cannot guarantee glorious sunshine we can at least promise you that you will be snug, warm, dry and have a fabulous time at Longlands whatever mood Mother Nature finds herself in! Here are our promises to you:
1. A warm & comfortable bed
Snuggle down under a thick duvet. Enjoy the feel of luxurious White Company Egyptian Cotton. Warm your toes on a hot water bottle. All our beds are made up with luxurious bed linen, and a 4.5+9 tog duvet, so you can decide how warm or cool you want your bed to be! Even our single beds have double sized duvets to ensure warmth for children and adults alike. We also provide hot water bottles & blankets, should you need them.
2. An ensuite shower & loo
Wash away the cares of the day. Pamper yourself with some natural aromatherapy. Step out into a heated room! Each lodge has its own en-suite shower room and separate en-suite wash room, with flushing loo and basin. Hot water for the shower, sink and basin is provided by a wood burning boiler, that also ensures the shower room is warm as toast! We provide all the bath linen you should need, plus a gorgeous range of natural aromatherapy bathroom products, including shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and body lotion!
3. An incredible view
Sit back, put your feet up and pour a glass of wine. Watch the sun set on the sea or the stars twinkling in the night sky, or the weather racing up the valley. The large deck area at the front of the lodge has a sofa, table and chairs so you can relax whilst enjoying the amazing views over the lake and valley, down to the sea in the day, and the star filled sky at night. In fact the lodges look out onto one of the few Dark Sky Reserves in the world.
4. Attention to detail
From the wood burning stove that will keep the lodge warm in all weathers, and provides a means of cooking, to the small gas ring so that you can enjoy a cup of coffee, tea, or hot chocolate (all included within the lodge) quickly in the morning, through to the blanket box of games and the vintage chesterfield sofa that is perfect for curling up on with a book in front of the fire. We have tried to think of everything that you might need to make your stay as comfortable as possible so all you have to bring are your clothes!
5. Adventures galore
There are so many places to go and so many things to do that we have filled a whole book with them: The Longlands Large book of Adventures! So head out for new experiences & challenges and create memories to cherish long after you return home.
Don’t just take our word for it
Here are what other guests have had to say after staying in challenging weather conditions:
“Arriving on Monday in torrential rain with a dubious Aussie in tow we were a touch nervous. We should have had more faith – Bella was so amazingly warm and welcoming, the tent, fire and oil lamps so reassuring and relaxing…plus the famous vanilla cheesecake! Us 5 adults have had a riot exploring, eating, rowing…All feel rested, relaxed and slightly tipsy..the only way to play Uno for 3 hours! Thank you for all your amazing attention to detail.”
“What a wonderful welcome awaited us! Amazing “tent”, wonderful attention to detail. Everything has been thought of and our meal on arrival was enough to feed the entire family (with leftovers the next morning!) and included the BEST garlic bread we have ever had. Lots of wet weather and storms but we were cosy and warm and loved the sound of rain on the canvas at night. Really enjoyed learning how to use the two burners and even manage to whip up some epic dishes from scones to perfect roast potatoes – we ate like kings! A fun, exciting and comfortable adventure – beautifully executed. Thanks!”
“What an Adventure! We had such a wonderful time. Who thought a week filled with hail-storms and thunderstorms, below freezing nights and some welcome-sunshine could be so much fun? The stove kept us toasty and warm. The tent made us feel so cosy and safe. We made yummy four course meals in the oven and on the stove. Bella & Pam, you are such attentive hostesses. Thank you all so much!”
